  1. A sheaf of corn was buried in a person's name whose downfall death or ill health you wished to happen. That person began to pine and often died.
    This belief in the burying of the sheaf was firmly believed by the people of this district and instances are related of person who instances are related of persons who pined and died because the sheaf was buried for them by an enemy.
