- (continued from previous page)great care is given to the potato crop. They are weeded and grubbed and second covered, and they are also sprayed to prevent the disease called "blight."
When Autumn comes the potatoes are dug by the plough or by the spade and the children pick them. When they are gathered they are put into pits or taken into a shed. Long ago wooden ploughs were used, and my uncle "Patrick Brady" has one still. The spades which are used are ones which are bought in a shop.- Collector
