There is a quarry in the Clongill district in the parish of Fletcherstown which is owned by Mr Lee. In the Penal Times when the Priests used to be hunted, a tragedy occurred at the quarry. One of Cromwells soldiers was hunting a priest and he saw him some distance ahead of him. He was in such a hurry to catch the priest that he did not look where he was going until he ran into the quarry which was full of water. He was drowned and the priest had time to escape safely.
