  1. There is an old cave in a field known as the Cave Field in the townland of Demailestown. This field is owned by Mr John McHugh.
Some years ago Mr Thomas Kealy and Dr Moran, who was a School Inspector, explored this cave for a short distance. There is a large stone at the entrance to the cave. The men took the stone away and a dark passage was revealed. Ropes were got and tied round Mr Kealy who went into the cave. He went two rope lengths or about twenty-four yards into the cave but was afraid to go any further as he had only a few matches left.
The cave leads to Demailestown Lios and from that to the Hill of Balsaw.
this cave is still to be seen. At the entrance there is a small mound and a large flat stone.
