  1. 1. The old cure of the wart is to get a snail and hang it on a thorn bush for a while and then put it on the wart.
    2. A sty on the eye can be cured by pricking it with the thorn of a gooseberry bush.
    3. The whooping cough is cured by getting a piece of red flannel and tying it round the neck.
    4. The juice of a green leaf such as a St Patrick's leaf will cure the sting of a nettle.
    5. A slice of fat bacon will take out a thorn from the finger or hand and it will also cure a stone bruise.
