  1. A loccal song named "A Day on Loughanlea* Mountain was composed by a man named Reilly of Muff, Kingscout long long ago.
    The words are now given by Mrs Carroll, aged 45 Edengorra Bailieboro'
    "One August day long years ago
    With sporting dog and gun
    I beat my way to Loughanlea
    To have a bit of fun
    And with me came that August day
    A comrade staunch and true
    Who never feared a keeper bold
    Or belted man in blue
    Now when we reached the mountain base
    We sat upon a mound
    To rest our limbs and draw our breath
    And have a look around
    And as we gazed adown the vale
    There came into our view
    Some half a score of canvas tents
    And horses in review.
    It chanced to be the fair of Muff, (b)
