  1. Names of Townlands in this locality and written by the compiler of this book

English name - Irish - Why so called

    EDENGORRA (Parish of Kilmainhamwood)
    Éadan Gabhra
Probably from the sunny side of this townland on which goats used to lie

    CORMEEN (Parish of Moybologue)
    Cor Mín
    Smooth round hill

    MULLINAVALLEY (Parish of Moybologue)
    Mullach an Bhealaigh
This townland got its name from people named Clarke. The neighbours used to call them "the top of the roads". This family lived beside Peter Kearney's house about one hundred years ago. A field there is still called "Máire Clarke's garden"

    MOYLE (Parish of Moybologue)
    Maol
The land in this townland was poor and very few trees were growing in it, hence maol = bare

    BOHERLEA (Parish of Kilmainhamwood)
    Bothar Liath
An old road borders this townland
