- Some people dye clothes yet. A pot of water is put on and when it is warm is taken of. You get a quart of cold water and put it into the pot and then put the material into it. Boil it for ten mins. and then put it out to dry.It is getting very uncommon to see anyone carding or spining wool now. I believe about thirty years ago every third house in our parish sheltred a spining wheel. They carded to wool first and when it was carded, rolled it into hanks.
