  1. I live in the townsland of Drakerath which in olden times was called Collinstown and its landlord was a noted Catholic named Christopher Columbus Drake. Mr Drake also owned a farm up near George's cross which was called after him and got the name Darkestown. As well as Drakestown getting its name Collinstown was changed to Drakerath. Mr Drake was a very kind landlord to his tenants and he was known among them as "Christopher an croide bog". Drake owned 2000 acres of land made up of two farms namely Drakerath and Drakestown.
