“To cure a sty...”
To cure a sty: Get a thorn off a Gooseberry bush and prick the sty with it three times every morning and say a prayer, the sty will soon be cured. Sore throat: Heat salt on a pan and put it on a cloth and put it as a poultice around the throat on going to bed. Chilblains:- may be cured by applying or rubbing them with pieces of raw potatoes. The potato is cut in two - and the chilblain rubbed with each part. Whooping Cough:-If you happen to meet a "God's Horse" (i.e. a small insect of the Caterpillar type - brown with black hairs) on the road, without looking for it. Rub the insect to the neck of the affected person and it will cure him or her.- Bailitheoir
