- Long ago a woman was gathering sticks in the Petersville lawn. There were no people living in the Petersville big house. When the woman had the sticks gathered and was preparing to bring the sticks home a man came from the hall door and put his foot on the sticks. The woman was frightened. She had a scissors tied to her apron and she made a cross of the scissors and the man vanished. Then when the woman went to bring the sticks home they were very heavy and she could not carry them home and she stayed there till morning.
