Ar an leathanach seo

    and at Smith's in Farrell Street. The tallow was got at the butchers and boiled till it became liquid and then poured into a mould. A ball of cotton thread was used for wicks. The thread was double so that when the candle was made there was a loop of wick at the top.
    A twine was run through the loops and the candles tied together in large bundles and hung from a crook in the ceiling. The candles had a very unpleasant smell and a dirty yellow colour.
