  1. Some of these people were well off, and others are poor enough. They buy their things in wholesale shops, and come around to houses in the country to sell them.
    They sell reels, medal, laces, and clips. Some of the people are glad they come, and they put them up for a night, in a settle-bed, a shed, or a barn, or on a hay-loft. The most of them travel on foot, and a few on carts with asses.
    They come into the town chiefly when there is a fair, or a feast-day
