  1. Jimmy Tevlin of Billywood, Laughan was a plough-man and had no education. One evening he was going to a dance in a hurry after a day's mowing. A dog attacked him and he raised the winkers to hit him and struck his own leg and from that out he was a cripple. But he got the gift of poetry. He could write in English and Irish.
    Some of his poems are "A Mother's Lament" and "A Visit to Hell". In the latter poem he said that he saw every landlord in Ireland in hell, and that some were punished more than others.
    His poems were not allowed to be published in this country for all the landlords were against him. They found their
