    Priory of Ballybogan founded 12th Century by Jordan Comin.

    Priory of Ballybogan founded 12th century by Jordan Comin. Dispute about it 1399.
    1404 some of its lands disposed of by Henry IV. 50 years later burned to the ground.
    The last prior was Thomas Birmingham 1537.
    This immensely wealthy priory vast estate together with some portion of that of Clonard granted to Sir William Birmingham afterwards created Lord Carbery.
    1538 The Reformers burned here a great crucifix; also Our Lady of Trim and St Patricks Staff (Dublin).
    1869 The Abbey and lands belonged to Lord Landsdown who buttressed northern wall.
