    "Something old and something new

The bride is not supposed to go to her home for a month after her marriage. In some parishes the names of the couple about to be married would be read from the alter a week before the marriage, it is called the bannes. People say it is very unlucky for the couple to meet the day before the marriage. It was usual for the couple to be sprinkled with rice when coming out of the chapel
