  1. There is a haunted house just about a mile outside Navan. It is a very spacious building. Long ago in this house there lived a mother, father and daughter. They lived together for a long time. When the father and mother were advanced in years, the daughter stayed at home to mind them. She knew she would get their property when they died. The father died of a stroke. His wife and daughter were at his death-bed as he was dying. His last words were to his daughter. "After I die, my girl, if you shall marry, do not marry a protestant. If you do, I shall come and haunt you every night.
    After his death the mother and daughter mourned his loss. As they were very wealthy, they were not in want. Two years after the death of the father, the mother met with an accident. She was sent away to a private nursing home.
    The daughter, seeing that her mother would never see home again, got her auntie to stay with her. She forgot her father's last words and married a rich protestant. She became a protestant herself. When her auntie heard this she was horror-stricken, but did not dare tell the mother,
