  1. There is an ancient old castle up a lane, at Donaghpatrick along the blackwater and beside this castle was an old farmhouse where three brothers and a sister dwelt. Their names were Pat, Tom and Cyril Sheridan and their sister Bessie At a bridge nearby a ban-sidhe used to wail at different intervals surely foretelling some sorrow in the locality. One night before dawn Cyril resolved to fire a shot at her and to see what would be the result. His sister wished him not to, but he decided on carrying out his plans. Being annoyed his sister followed him. Immediately he fired, his sister could see the object running towards him and she ran and took hold of him to drag him home with the object still in pursuit of him.
