  1. Near Trim on the River Boyne is the Ford of the Elder. Here it was that a great saint called Fortehern was converted to the true faith in days gone by.
    St. Patrick when he came to Ireland left his nephew St Loman at the mouth of the Boyne and told him to stay there for forty days. He waited there for a long time and then he began to go up the river in his boat. At last, he came to the Ford of Elder. The next morning he saw Fortehern and he baptized him.
