  1. The Dead Coach.
    Once upon a time there lived in a little (coach) thatched cabin standing by the roadside not far from Trim an old woman named Kitty Fitzsimmons and her son Mickern. This son was a curse instead of a blessing to her old age. He was constantly out at night and many a dark deed was left at his door by the neighbours. The poor mother was constanly praying for him, but her prayers remained unanswered, for he continued his evil courses.
    One night, as the old woman sat by the fireside alone as usual, she was roused from her sad thoughts by a strange sound - a heavy rumbling noise. Opening the door which was but a few paces from the road, she listened. The sound appeared to be coming nearer. Going out on the road she saw a large carriage drawn by two black horses coming up the incline
    As it came closed, it seemed to be coming to a stand still.
