  1. There are two ruined castles in this district, one in Frayne and one in Rathmore.
    Frayne Castle was built by Hugh De Lacy sometime in the tenth century. It is about one hundred years derelict. It is in the townland of Frayne, the parish of Athboy, the barony of Lune, County Meath.
    Rathmore Castle was built by Plunketts, and as for many years their residence until Cromwell destroyed it. It is about the hundred years derelict. It is in the townland of Rathmore, the Parish of Athboy and the barony of Lune, County Meath.
