  1. There are two tailors in this district Mr Smith of Main St and Mr Smith of Connaught St. They work in their own house and the people have to go in to get fitted on. The tailors stock the cloth. It is not spun or woven locally. The people who came from Galway to Rathcarne wear home spun clothes.
    The other kinds of cloth used are linen, woolen.
    The tailor has a goose it is made of iron and shaped in a square. He has a machine and a scissors and tape and chalk.
    Very few people made shirts now. They are made of flannellet. There is no flax grown here now.
