  1. James Connolly, Rathmore, Athboy, lifted a horse's cart and in later years he died from hurts received. He died about eighteen years ago.

    Laurence Russell, Derrylangan, Athboy, lifted a horse's cart and it full of hay. He lived about fifteen years ago.
    James O Brien who lived in Rathmore, is supposed to have mowed three acres in a day. He challenged a man from Delvin, in a Mowing Competition, and he won a gold cup. He went to America, about twenty six years ago. He brought the cup with him, and was never heard of since.
    Patrick Duff, Connaught St., Athboy, was a great walker. He walked to Oldcastle fair every Thursday. He was also a very
