  1. Hidden Treasure.
    From Patrick Keogh, Coolronan.
    In the Moate of Coolronan beside Jim Duignans House there is supposed to be hidden treasure.
    It is in Harry Lestranges farm now but long ago it was Rickards.
    Long ago some men got to find out that it was there. So they went to Rickard's and got leave to dig for it. Fr. Rickard helped them. They dug for along time under a certain hawthorn bush. They found a stone and on it there was some writing which could not be made out or understood. They dug on still and then they found a put or jug of gold. Fr. Rickard kept it. Some hours after a poor traveller passed that way: He was from Connaught. They showed him the stone and this is what he said was written on it: "There is as much more behind the bush". They dug for a long time but could find none. They never troubled themselves any more about it. It is said that it is there still. At the time there was only the
