  1. Once upon a time there lived a boy named McDonnell who lived in Cossestown.
    He was on the last stages of life with consumption.
    They sent for Brian Dolan a herbal doctor living near Kildalkey in a small house, when he came, he looked at him seriously and he said, "I'll cure you my man,"
    He the gave his orders as follows,
    " A bucket of yellow clay and a bucket of fresh cow-dung two axle boxes of a dray and two fire bricks and a big burning fire down.
    The boy was then placed on a palliasse in front of the kitchen fire.
    He placed the two bricks in the fire he turned the boy on his side. He put one of the dray boxes against his back and the (order) other to his breast, and he placed the two bricks against the boxes.
