  1. My father has nine cows.
In the morning they are brought in and tied with big chains of iron.
The names of them are The young Maoil, Blue Martin, Jim Murphy, The Old Kerry, Little Red, Little Black, White One, Kinnegad Bour and Mrs Williams.
When the cow is milked the sign of the cross is made on her hip with some of her own milk as it is said to bring good luck.
People say it is lucky to have a goat with cattle as it is said they clean the ground.
It is also said that goat's milk is better than cows milk because she eats all the herbs in the ground.
If you have the rickets drink goat's milk or asses' and it will cure them and goat's milk will also cure consumption.
