    Once upon a time there was a man by the name of Mat Smyth who lived in the Townland of Cournglara, Co. Cavan. He used to work in an outlying farm where there were two forts named the big fort and the little fort. On his return from his work one evening in spring at about half past six he was passing by the forts he saw a crowd of little men playing high gates. One of them said "Who will we call". Some of them said "Mat". So he was brought away after them off his path. He went astray and could
