When they were taking down an old church that was beside the old Norman Castle in Longford's grounds a man went to steal a plank out of it and every time he would put it up on his shoulder it would fall off and the last time it fell of he sat on the end of it and he saw a cock sitting on the other end of it. He waited there till it was 12 o' clock and when 12 o' clock struck in the church he said "In spite of you now and of all the devils in hell I'll take it.
