  1. Shops were plentiful in my district in olden times. They sold principally oatmeal, also tallow candles, tobacco, salt, and other small things. The people round here also went to Trim to the Saturday market to sell their goods such as: butter and eggs. The market of Trim dates back to the thirteenth century, so the people must be buying and selling for the last seven hundred years.
    I have never heard of any buying in my district after Mass. It was not a practice
