  1. Some twenty years ago night school were held in this locality.
One of the teachers, a fairly old man, by the name of Mr Tymmons, taught in Rathmolyon District, and many people were delighted to be able to attend his school.
Mt Tymmons was no s tranfer.
There was school carried on in the farmers houses in backward places. If the guards caught them at this they could be arrested.
The teachers did not lodge in the farmers houses , they had houses of their own.
The people who attended their school were of the poor class, and were not all to pay very much.
Reading, writing and Arithmetic were the chief subjects taught in the night schools.
I do not know whether Irish was spoken by masters and pupils.
School books were used and they were handed down from one pupil to another.
