  1. The marriages ceremonies in this district take place mostly from the beginning of June till the end of September.
    Marriages do not take place during Shrove.
    May is said to be unlucky. There is a saying about it
    "Marry in May you rue the day.
    Dowry is given in some cases when a family is very rich or if they have a lot of stock. They might stock a farm for the couple.
    None of the people in this neighbourhood remember marriages taking place in the houses.
    There are several customs connected with marriages in this district.
    The bride has to be carried into the house where she has to live.
    There is confetti thrown over the couple.
    The bride is usually late for the service.
    There is usually a wedding feast held in the home of the bride's father.
    There is a wedding procession down the aisle to the door.
    The bride and bridegroom do not return home
