  1. Bread.
    Bread was made from salt and wheat in former times. The flour was made in the district. The people in this district do not remember querns.
    The different kinds of bread used were potatoe cakes, and oaten meal bread. Yeast was used for making the bread in former times.
    Water used to be mixed used to mix the meal. There was enough bread baked for the week at one time. The bread was baked in front of the fire. The bread was often made on a griddle, and some people make it still on the griddle.
