  1. A long time ago there lived an old witch in Baile Rinn lios called "Maura Kishouge". She could cure many ills and she had an evil eye. In fact all the people in the village and neighbourhood were very much afraid of her. But she was in most cases agreeable to cure all sorts of diseases of people and animals. She had a cure for the "cra cree". The patient was put sitting on a sugain with a dish of oatmeal on his knees. The old witch started an incantation and kept it up until the dish of meal disappeared. The patient was cured.
    An another occasion a young man in the village was bitten by a mad dog and and course "Maura Kishouge" was sent for. There was no cure. So "Maura" acted according to the custom. She opened a vein in the man's arm
