  1. An Old Castle

    There is an old ruins of a castle in this neighbourhood it is called Garadice Castle.
    It is in the townland of Gallow, Barony of Upper Deece, County Meath. People by the name of Deece lived in it last the family name was Garret Deece. It is thought that this is how Garadice got its name- Garret Deece. There is only one wall of it now standing, this wall is used as a back wall of a shed.
    There is a boreen going down to it called the "Castle boreen".
    Long ago it used to be called "Wheatly's road."
    There are two families living near it Byrnes and Galvins.
    There are so many Byrnes in the neighbourhood that tthese Byrnes are called "Byrnes of the castle". There is a bit of a winding stairs leading up to the tower of the castle but it would be hardly
