  1. Marriages now a days take place in the chapel with nuptial mass.
    They go early to the chapel.
    Sometimes they get married in Dublin. So they would be near the hotel where they get their breakfast.
    When the honeymoon is over they return to the bridegroom's house.

  2. On entering the bridegroom's house - his mother or nearest relatives would have ready a big cake of wheaten bread and break it over the bride's head for luck.
    Weddings often took place on Sunday after Mass.
    (Custom used to be practised in parts of Meath where I come from)
