  1. The Pound road leads from Culmullen Church to Culmullen Crossroads - a distance of about a quarter of a mile. It derives its name from a small field called the pound, which cattle and all wandering animals were empounded. Before the could be got out by their owners a fine had to be paid.
    The pound was situated where the washhole now is.
