    The Tolka was navigable in former years as far as Bennetstown...

    The Tolka was navigable in former years as far as Bennetstown (a 1/4 mile from Dunboyne on road N.W. of village. The landing stage for boats was at Paudheens Bridge.
    Ruins of a corn mill are near Loughsallagh (beside Tolka). Mill was working until 90 years ago.
    Miller's Lane and Mill Farm are names of fields beside ruins.
    Straw Hats were manufactured in the village - also at The Sheaf of Wheat one mile outside the village. "Sheaf of Wheat" an inn on the coach road from Dublin to Navan. Black Bull 2 miles further on another inn.
    Stage Coach horses changed at "The Bush" on road to Navan 4 1/2 miles from Dunboyne.
    Turn Pike at Black Bull - 1/2 d was toll collected
    Rushes were pulled on the Moor of Meath rush candles were made
