    In the fourteenth century in reign of Edward Second, Thomas Butler brother of the first Earl married an heiress Sinalda
    property in Dunboyne passed to the Butlers became Lords of Dunboyne about 1787 Bishop Butler (Lord Dunboyne) wishing to have an heir for his property decided to wed. His apostacy gave great scandal. Lord Dunboyne during his apostacy was friendly to Father Connell and was very good to the poor in the village.
