    Kilbrew in Irish Cill portrigh
    An Abbey was anciently founded. It is recorded in the book known as the Monasticons that as far back as 736.
    Maelochtaigh, Abbot of Kilbrew died.
    In '768 Maenach Abbot of Slane and Kilbrew, died 782 Robartagh, Abbot of Slane, and Kilbrew died.
    After the Anglo-Norman invasion Kilbrew became a parish Church. This church was uprooted at the time of the Reformation and a Protestant edifice erected on its site. St.
