  1. Hedge Schools
    There was a hedge school in Dunshaughlin about 90 years ago. It was held in an old building at the end of present parochial house field. A lane runs along it which is still known as schoolhouse lane. Some traces of the old building are still to be seen and the doors and windows can be traced in the wall along the lane. The name of the last teacher there was Hanaway. The pupils learned English and Latin and Arithmatics. It accomodated at one time over 100 pupils
