    Mrs George Oakes, Goboy, Johnstown has told me that her Great grandfather Edward Casey fed about 40 people from the surrounding districts. They came every Sunday.
    In famine times men were employed in lowering hills on the roads one was lowered above Kilcarne Bridge and on on the Oldtown road near the parochial house.
