  1. Old Marriage Customs
Long ago they used to have a wedding and they would have a long car drive but it was not a motor car. They used to have five or six cars, and they would have a white horse if they could, and who ever was home first they would meet them with the bottle of whiskey, and it was considered a good thing to have a goat in the procession. They used to take off their shoes and throw them after the bridal group and also tie them out of the car. Anybody that got married the second time they booked them and kettled them and stuffed the chimneys and tied the doors. Sometimes there would be a ditch in front of the house and there would be a plank across it and would saw it and when the old man would run after them he would fall down in the ditch and when they get him down they would clod him.
