    At Rowntree's there is a water-stone.

At Rowntree's there is a water-stone. When Butlers owned this farm the following event happened. Mrs Butler, Dick Butlers mother, got this water-stone moved from where it was, in front of the house, and had it placed inside the garden gate. Each Saturday she held a Tennis Party. After the "stone" had been removed, each Saturday was a wet day. Rain fell in torrents to such an extent that none of the visitors could come to play the tennis. Mr. Butler, her husband, said to old Mr. Jim Kelly (Nora's father of the Main Navan Road) "How is it that every Saturday is a wet day." "Leave that stone back where it was" said old Jim, and you will have fine weather on Saturday." The stone was left back and every Saturday after that, there was fine weather.
