    the ruins of Knock-common Church now stands.
    Thinking that some one had done it for a joke, they brought the poles back and erected them again in Newtown, but next morning they were back again in Knock-common.
    They brought the poles back again but the same thing happened.
    This went on for some days. No one could find out who was shifting the poles every night. So the priest and people put a guard on the poles to catch the culprit, but though they watched the whole night and in the morning the poles were gone again and no one saw them go.
    A guard was placed on Knock-common as well as Newtown next night but the poles moved again and once more no one in Newtown saw them go or no one in Knock-common saw them come.
    The priest said "the Hand of God is in this. He wants his house built in Knockcommon, we will build it here" and
