Once a boy in this parish went to England and returned after a few years.
He was anything but well dressed, and when the neighbours asked his mother who certainly had never learned geography how he was she replied "The poor fellow has not a stitch of boots on his feet as he had to walk round the whole way, for he had not the price of his fare"

“One night about 25 or 30 ears ago my grandmother and aunt were sitting...”
One night about 25 or 30 years ago my grandmother and Aunt were sitting at the fire talking an unusually tall woman walked in.
She had a beautiful head of hair which hung down to the middle of her back, and had a very gentle appearance.
She did not speak one word but went towards the fire shivering, and warmed her hands.
