    This is Stanley Hill.

    (continued from previous page)
Our own poet Francis Ledwidge wrote in his last letter from France dated 20th July 1917 10 days before he was killed:-
"you have no idea of how I suffer with this longing for the swish of the reeds at Slane."
Probable he had in his mind this spot at Lady Well near his native place. This well is visited by thousands on 15th Aug. which is the patron day of this parish. This church beside our school here is the "Church of the Assumption" and was built in 1826.
It was built by a holy priest named Fr. Sheridan about whom we have written many incidents in this book.
    I have heard the saying,
"Yellow Furze Church was built between two Showers", but no one seems to know what that means.
There is a story told by many people of a supernatural happening on the day Mass was first celebrated in it.
Mr. White Flynn's Cross told us that his grandfather was present that day, and that some "unearthly" disturbance frightened everyone except Fr. Sheridan himself out of the Church
