“A man called Jack Bowens, a son of Mr Thomas Bowens had the experience one night...”
A man called Jack Bowens , a son of mr. Thomas Bowens had the experience one night , of having a banshee on some othe spirit of that nature , to accompany him home. He was walking on this particular night, and he wa about a mile from home when suddenly he heard a loud piercing cry from a short distance away. At first he did not know what it was, and thought it was the cry of a child coming from a house close by. He was so taken by surprise that he stood on the road to listen. Then that terrible heart breaking sobbing and crying began at the other side of the ditch , and it came this time to stay . It kept along with him the whole way home, crying continually outside the ditch. What was strange about it was that it never ceased for a moment-not even for the drawing of a breath. This gave him the firm belief that it was a spirit and no human being. It continued the cries until he was at home, and when he went in he brought out his father and mother to listen to it, and neither one nor the other of them could hear anything, although he could ear it as plain as ever. Soon after this occurrence his brother died. Although he did not know gave rise to the cry when e heared it first, it gave him a start, and he had a creepy sense of dread, as if the unearthliness.(continues on next page)- Collector
