In our house the holly and ivy which were put up to decorate for Christmas was left there will Shrove Tuesday, when it was taken down and burned to make a good fire for the pancakes for of course in every house Shrove Tuesday is "Pancake Night" when people say Good Bye to all good things and prepare for the Lenten fast.
