    How the townland got its name: The monks of Mellifont used to keep their sheep on the lands at Sheephouse. The house in Sheephouse Yard is said to have been an Infirmary for the people of the district. It belonged to the monks.
    Old people: Mrs. Kelly, Brigid Farrell, John Farrell, John Bates. They do not know Irish, but they can tell stories in English.
