- There is a rock at Mullacroghan (near Donore) with three holes in it. It is said that people were hanged here long ago. The holes in the rock were for the erection of a scaffold, and there are also footmarks to be seen.

- After the Battle of the Boyne there were large numbers of soldiers buried in the 'Gruggins' at Oldbridge and any valuables they had were supposed to have been buried with them. One day about 60 years ago a man named Patrick Craven was digging sand for MacCullough's house. When he emptied out the sand he discovered a jampot in which there were some very old coins.People still believe that there is hidden treasure in the 'Gruggins'.
